GENERAL INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND SUITABLE RESPONSES (PART-2)

What does teamwork mean to you?
Be sure to have examples ready. Tell that you perform for the good of the team rather than yourself. Don’t boast….. just say in a matter-of-fact tone.

Why should we hire you?
Point out how your assets meet what the organization needs.

If confronted with a personally insulting question.
Keep yourself cool as such questions are used to test your tolerance level and your reaction during times of stress.
No need to disclose your personal details also.

If asked politically sensitive issues or issues of national importance.
·         Put forth their pros and cons.
·         Your words should reflect your general awareness and answer logically.
·         Avoid any partisan attitude towards any political party.

Other probable questions:
·         What are your long range and short term goals?
·         Do you have any plans for further education?
·         Do you have location preferences?
·         What quality do you feel a successful manager should have?
·         What do you do in your spare time?

Do you have any questions to ask us?
Avoid questions pertaining to salary package, vacation, job timings, etc.
The probable questions that can be asked are:
1.       What qualities/expectations do you seek in a new firm?
2.       How would you describe the work environment in the company?
3.       Do you have any formal training program?

How to answer effectively:
v  Listen to the questions carefully. If you are not sure of the question, excuse yourself and ask them to repeat it as good answers will create positive impression.
v  Pause to consider your answers.
v  If not sure about the answer to a particular question, admit it openly. Avoid giving wrong answers or guess the answer. Admitting ignorance will help you keep up your dignity.
v  Avoid false and exaggerated information.
v  Be well prepared to answer technical and subject related questions.

 How to conclude an interview:
Ø  Thank the interviewer for the time and express a positive interest in the job.
Ø  If you are interested in the position, let interviewer know it.
Ø  If you get the impression that the interview is not going well, don’t let your discouragement show. Sometimes, even when an interviewer is genuinely interested, they may seem to discourage you as a way of testing your reaction.
